About Ellie

Ellie was the most special dog, she had something amazing in her personality, anyone who met her fell in love with her instantaneously. She won over everyone (even those who did not like dogs, and there were a few!) Ellie was one of a kind and soon made friends with humans and dogs she met on her journey.

We rescued Ellie when she was just over 3 months old from the animal shelter, where she was taken after being an unwanted Christmas present. Lucky for us, as the minute we met her we knew she was the right companion for us. It was love at first sight! She was the cutest, most energetic pup with big floppy ears and these gorgeous big brown eyes filled with curiosity!

She loved going on travels, driving alongside my husband in the van, joining him whilst he went off to do jobs the first few years, meeting many people and stopping at the burger van for her daily sausage treat! She loved her sausages, and it was her favourite treat until Nan Dixon introduced her to the digestive biscuit! No longer could she choose, she loved these equally, and would do anything for either treat.

Ellie loved going on adventures! Big or small! Traveling to different forests, visiting big lakes or the beautiful hills in Austria, playing in the snow, swimming in the sea, rolling in the grass, digging big holes on the beach and playing with kids. She loved children, of all sizes, and would entertain them, or they her, for endless hours.

Ellie had a big heart, and seemed to know what everyone needed. All the time. She was patient, loving, gentle, funny, scared of a bath but loved a paddling pool!

In August this year, after 13 wonderful years, we had to say goodbye to our beautiful girl, and it was one of the most difficult goodbye’s we have had to do, and we miss her so much. Our hearts broke. We miss her kind and gentle presence in our home and hearts, even her stubbornness too!

She had puppies of her own, 10 in total, and part of her now lives on in all of them. We have 2 of her puppies still with us. Though not quite puppies themselves anymore!

We want to memorialise Ellie by writing children’s storybooks, to remember her and her love for children. We want to keep her memory alive through children loving her character and personality, which we hope to capture and portray through the stories we write.

We are only at the beginning of our book writing journey, but we love the support we have already had and hope everyone will follow and support this journey with us.

We want to bring the love, joy and laughter she gave us back to the world and if the book makes at least 1 child smile we have met our goal.

If you have made it to the end, we thank you for your time to read about our wonderful Ellie, and hope you enjoy our Smelly Ellie journey.
